This is Jhumpa Lahiri. She won the Pulitzer Prize for her short-story collection, Interpreter of Maladies, in 2000, and her novel, The Namesake, was adapted into a movie starring fellow non-studying-Asian, Kal Penn, in 2003. She is too busy writing, winning prizes and helping the White House to promote the arts and humanities to be stuck in the library.
